Sukhā te samanassa chāyā
(The shadow of the monks is also bliss)
Taking the above text as its motto, Sripāda Forest Hermitage, located in the small village of Demodara in Gallalella District Council of Ratnapura District, is a quiet small forest hermitage with a beautiful environment and several small water streams. A paradise for butterflies and birds, the Samanala site is home to three upasampadā monks and a few young worshippers who aspire to become monks. The young monks who were engaged in the search for truth by studying various philosophies and meditation methods are eager to experience the taste of the original Buddhism while respecting each philosophy. The monks who come to the monastery cultivating the roles of granthadūra as well as vidarshanādūra without discrimination of caste and religion, and allowing everyone to experience the taste of Dhamma equally, work for their spiritual meaning as well as altruism with great mercy.
Encapsulating those beauties, the vision of a monastery is to express absolute meaning and make meaning for humanity as well.
